Michael Douglas? Apparently so…

So they’ve cast Michael Douglas as Hank Pym for the upcoming Marvel project Ant-Man. Sounds like a complete shocker, right? But apparently, the movie will incorporate both Hank Pym and Scott Lang, in a storyline showing Hank Pym’s Ant-Man some time in the past, and in which his now older self is set opposed Scott Lang as the new Ant-Man, which is said to be portrayed by Paul Rudd.

When I first saw that Michael Douglas had been cast as Pym, I was distraught to say the least. I mean, I’m pretty sure he’s a little old to be battling supervillains, don’t you agree? But as I read on, this storyline that they mention actually sounds really cool and I can’t wait to see the final product, as it stands as the initial starter for Phase Three of the Marvel Cinematic universe!

2014 Anticipations #2

Okay, so yesterday I looked at Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, 22 Jump Street and the Robocop-revamp, and dropped some thoughts on them. Today, I’ll be doing the exact same thing with a few more upcoming titles that are coming our way.

Godzilla bannerFirst up, the long awaited Godzilla-reboot. As we were treated with a teaser (check it out right here: Godzilla) not so long ago, the hype for this one blew through the roof. Not only will we see the King of monsters looking all kinds of badass, but I have a feeling that we will be treated with an intense story-line as well. I believe that this will be a fantastic attempt for Hollywood to redeem themselves for that God awful creation from -98. My predictions; The fans will love it and it will be a fabulous success at the box office.

Spider-man 2 bannerNext up, we’ll take a look at The Amazing Spider-man 2. Don’t get me wrong, I’m totally excited to see Spidey back in action again, and while I think Garfield is a great Peter Parker, I think this one will suffer some serious backlash from the critics, and judging by the first looks we’ve seen on Rhino, I don’t think the fans will appreciate it all that much either. And again, three villains? Nah, don’t clutter the thing, man. My predictions; Slightly worse than the last one with a LOT of negative backlash.

Transformers 4 bannerThirdly, we have Transformers: Age of Extinction (or Transformers 4, if you prefer). As a ginormous TF-fan myself, I’m overly anxious to see where this is going, and I sincerely hope that the lowlife Michael Bay redeems himself from the last thunderfuck of a disaster. Although, with Optimus Prime’s new look, I highly doubt it. But maybe Marky Mark will give it that well needed boost upward? Predictions? Nope, not for this one, as it’s too close to heart!

X-Men Days of Future Past bannerAnd the last one for today, X-men: Days of Future Past. This is it, the epitome of success, even this far from its release. With the original X-cast AND Bryan Singer at the helm, the ..First Class‘mates will embark upon one hell of a ride, and there is not a single doubt in my mind that it will be just as awesome as everyone wants it to be. This is the one that will blow the roof off of every single critic’s minds and my predictions for the box office? Yeah, I think this’ll stand as a proud #1 come 2015!

Well there you go. Check back tomorrow for another addition of the Tango’s Anticipations (WITH predictions). But until then…….

2014 Anticipations #1

Oh my god, the screaming and the yelling. The crackling and banging. Fortunately, the new years-festivities only comes around once a year. And it did. And it’s over. So let’s watch some movies, for Chris’s sake! And I have to say that, even if 2013 looked great when it came to movies, 2014 is looking even better. So let’s kick it off with some anticipations, some thoughts about this years upcoming blockbusters….

Robocop bannerFirst up, the Robocop-reboot. This is one that I feel can both mess my life up completely, OR…. give it some real meaning again. I grew up with (the Real) Robocop, so when I watch this movie, I’ll know what to look for, in comparison to the original. This is also the one that will be placed the most seriously under the microscope, just because I have grown up with the title. But my predictions about the film is, that it will do slightly better than the original at the box office, thus spawning its own line of sequels and toys.

22 Jump Street bannerNext up, we have a sequel, 22 Jump Street. As I saw the first one as a complete thunder-success, I don’t see why this one shouldn’t work. Hill and Tatum are fantastic together and I’m having a hard time thinking about a movie that made me laugh so hard, as the high-scene from 21 Jump. Sure, most of the pressure on this one lies on Channing Tatum, but I think he can relate some of it to both Jonah Hill and Ice Cube. At least here and there. So my predictions, funny as hell movie, but it won’t do as good at the box office as its prequel. This won’t be a trilogy.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes banner

And another sequel, the Apes-franchise continues. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is a direct-sequel to Rise of the Planets of the Apes, where we saw the magnificent portrayal of an ape growing smart by Andy Serkis. With an all new human cast for this sequel, I’m not quite sure what to expect and as we haven’t seen very much about the film, predictions are pretty hard. But I’d say that it will at least be as entertaining as the last one, if not slightly more so. As long as we’re given some more of the that ape’tastic action, we’re in for a fantastic ride!

That’s it for now, more goodies to come later on but I have to go work out now.
