Star Wars: The Force Awakens Official Teaser

And so, we finally have our first look at the seventh installment of the Star Wars-saga; The Force Awakens. Yes, it’s only a teaser, but wow does it do what it’s supposed to…. it teases the crap out of it!

There’s nothing to be find anywhere about plot points or characters, but what it does is give us a peak on how it will look…. and I have to say, judging by the small amount we have, it looks frikkin amazing!! I think, and you can quote me on this, that J.J Abrams have done what the fans wanted, and he will deliver an amazing addition to the already enormous Star Wars-universe!

Take a look at the teaser, and tell me what You think;

And let us pray that the first official theatrical trailer doesn’t take too long to arrive, ’cause we all need our fix! But, until then…. let’s watch the teaser a couple hundred more times!

Jurassic World trailer

Wow, so that just happened. And here I’m sitting all like; “Why do they have to wait ’til the weekend to release it?” and BAM!, it’s upon us… what am I talking about? Well, the first official trailer for Jurassic World, of course, and in the usual fashion I thought I’d drop some thoughts on it…

First off, it feels more like a teaser-trailer than a theatrical trailer, I think. Sure, it’s not just visuals and a few lines (like the Age of Ultron-trailer), but it still doesn’t give away too much of the plot. Yes, we know that they’ve created a hybrid dinosaur (but we knew that already from leaked plot details), and we know that the hybrid will wreak havoc (we knew that already, as well) and we get to see what one would think is Chris Pratt’s character taking charge against the hybrid alongside some (if one is to believe the rumors) of his trained Raptors (if that’s true, I’ll be both awed and disgusted)… all in all, the plot points we’re treated with in the trailer is just official confirmation of what we already knew so I’m a little disappointed about that.

The visuals, however, looks to be a well treated homage to the original trilogy. Yeah sure, the CGI looked to be a bit on lower side of it all but it’s still just a trailer and I’ve seen time and time again the end result look so much better than it did in the trailer, so I’m not at all worried about it.

We were also treated with the original music in a re-imagined take and to hear that music And see that ginormous gateway at the same time, well that was just mindblowingly nostalgic and awesome at the same time!

Now, to round things up, I’m extremely excited to see the film, mainly because over the last year I’ve become quite the Chris Pratt-fan, but also because the original film (and its two sequels) was a huge influence on my love for the cinematic art, so to see Spielberg’s legacy live on is considered an honor in my book!

Have you seen it? If so, what did you think about it? If not, don’t worry, you can watch it right here;

That’s it for now, but I’ll be back soon with more goodies…. and don’t forget, come December 1st, I’ll be on once a day with my 2014 Holiday-a-Thon (and maybe other stuff, who knows?), but until then….

Dumb & Dumber To review

Well would you look at that, they have done it again and they have done it good!
Dumb and Dumber To, the long overdue sequel to the 1994 comedy classic Dumb and Dumber has finally come our way.

As I said, this sequel is long overdue and one would have to think that it’s mainly because of Jim Carrey. I recall reading an interview with the actor some years ago, where he stated that he didn’t want to do sequels due to the fact that he’d be doing something he had already done and “not wanting to do the same movie twice.” But sure enough, give any actor some time and their careers are bound to be heading down a slope and what better way is there to revive it than with a sequel to one of the greatest films (of its genre, that is) ever made? None. So here we are now, with one brilliant piece of comedic art.

Harry and Lloyd 2014Dumb and Dumber To – probably one of the dumbest sounding titles there is, but it’s actually quite clever. It plays of the same sounding word ‘two’ as well as hints to the fact that it’ll be a roadtrip movie and at the same time brings us straight into the stupidity that is Harry and Lloyd. Quite the subtle genius, in my opinion.

As for the movie itself, well let’s just say that it has everything you could possibly want from a Dumb and Dumber-sequel…. and a little bit more. Sure, it’s not as great as its predecessor (that’s not something we’d anticipated either) but it brought quite the laughing spree at times. Having been on The Newsroom for the last couple of years, Jeff Daniels proved himself to be a fantastic actor, to be able to leave the seriousness of Will McAvoy behind and just …. remove his intelligence completely for Harry DunneAnd to see Jim Carrey doing what he does (did?) best is a treat beyond treats. It felt almost as if they had shot the two films back-to-back. With the addition of Kathleen Turner as the legendary Fraida Felcher, Rob Riggle as the the badguy and Rachel Melvin as the dimwitted Penny, this movie is guaranteed to make you laugh your socks off. Tango’s Stamp of Approval – received!

I know that it probably will never happen (and I’m okay with it), but this is a time when I feel a trilogy could actually be a good thing. If you look at the American Pie-trilogy, you can’t help but wonder who made the decision to make three (at first) movies. The first one was okay and the second was horrible, so why make a third? With Dumb and Dumber you at least have two great films and if both Carrey and Daniels would reprise it, I’m sure that the Farrelly brothers could hit the hattrick. But as I said, it probably will never happen and I’m okay with it.

There you go, my fellow Interneters, some thoughts on the latest comedy to take its place in my shelf, Dumb and Dumber To, a Farrelly masterpiece. Have you seen it? What did you think about it? Let me know in the comment-section, ‘kay.

Tango's Thoughts Holiday-A-Thon bannerOh, and as the Holiday season is upon us once again, along with my not doing anything for Halloween this year, I’ve wrangled up a Holiday-a-Thon instead. December 1st through 25th, I’ll be posting some thoughts on Holiday-themed films, such as It’s a Wonderful Life and Home Alone among others so come December, be sure to tune in at least once a day, for your reading pleasure, but until then…..
